Hello, I'm Lois Bostock, I run a garden design practice which is based in Loughton, Essex. I trained as a Garden Designer at the highly respected Capel Manor College in Enfield and have recently been accepted as a Pre-Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers.
Before I became a garden designer, I was awarded a 2:1 degree in, BA (Hons) 3D Multi-Disciplinary Design at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University. This is where I developed my team working skills together with the independent confidence to design in a range of medium including wood, metals, plastics and clay. During this time, I also became passionate about promoting an awareness of sustainability within design, which was evident in my dissertation on exploring eco-design. This has continued throughout my career to implement and encourage a cost effective, sustainable and ethical approach without compromising on quality and clients’ requirements. By promoting the use of recycled materials within my garden design and sourcing materials for renewable sources. My expertise is in visualizing designs for my garden design practice, combined with my hands-on horticultural experience. My dyslexia has fuelled my lifelong passion for art and design and has allowed me to be exploratory and innovative in my design ideas. Since leaving university I worked part-time in a secondary school as a Design Technology Technician, I specialize in construction and graphics, at The Forest Academy, Hainault, Redbridge. I help young designers and artists achieve their designs and projects to come alive. |
Having completed the three year course in Garden Design at Capel Manor College, this has enabled me to set up my own Garden Design practice. This has given me skills as a designer, to achieve a range of jobs from designing client’s gardens and planting schemes. By doing this I have forged a successful and professional relationships with local landscapers and trades people.
